The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has advised politicians and the public to exercise restraints while making vows, describing unfulfilled vows as ungodly.

Imo Deputy Governor gave this charge while reacting to the sermon of the day delivered Venerable Dr. Sunday Iheruo, the presiding vicar of Chapel of Praise, Lake Malinda, Achi-Mbieri, Mbaitoli local government of Imo State last Sunday.

Prince Madumere warned against making unrealistic pledges for the sake of elections, saying such pledges are not only counterproductive but cause loss faith and confidence in government. He also described unkept promises as betrayal of faith and violation of Convenant and agreements.

The number two citizen of Imo State declared that he is proud of Governor Okorocha for his resolute stance  in keeping to his promises to the people. He cited the free education policy in Imo State as a case in point. He also recited Governor Okorocha’s pledge to God to bless others if God blesses him and to give those who do not have if God gives him, which he said was what gave rise to the birth of Rochas Foundation Colleges.

He therefore called on politicians and the public to either keep quiet rather than hurriedly make rash vows that may put them in enmity with man and God.

Earlier in his sermon, Ven. Iheruo who read from the Ecclesiastics Chapter 5 :1 to 7 said that people should avoid making rash promises they cannot keep when they come to the house of True God; that it is better to draw near to God than to give sacrifices as the stupid ones do.

He admonished politicians to beware of the promises they make to the masses, reminding them of the curses that follow such deceitful promises.

He also reminded the congregation that the issue of keeping vows is applicable to couples, business partners and every relationships between man and man and God and man.
